Re: How can i get the login name and password for my local SQL server?
You didn't write much about your configuration. If you use only standard
security (if you did not define any logins with windows authentication and
you deleted the BUILTIN\administrators role), then you will not be able to
log in with your network user. If the only login that you have is SA (as
unfortunately many places work) then someone could have changed the
password, and you can not login with the old password. Take into
consideration that if you leave the SA's password blank, there are some
viruses on the net that login to the SQL Server and among the things that
they do, they set a password for the SA account so you will not be able to
log in using this account. This is just one more reason why you should
NEVER leave the SA account with no password (and believe me there are many
other excellent reasons to set a password for the SA account)

Re: How can i get the login name and password for my local SQL server?
it's not that simple.
look at what i've done.
i tried to put a password to the super
account 'sa' yesterday.After i've
done that i went to 'security'->logins i
found 3 accounts,one is the
windows administrator account,the other one
is the super account sa,and the
last one is 'build***' which i don't
know, and i found that it belong to
Windows Group',so i shut it down by denying
it.
Then i close the enterprise manager, and
restart it.
but i found that i could no longer connect
to the local sql server no matter
what i did.i wonder why this happened.
by the way,my sql server 2000 is the
'personal' version.
i am looking forward to recieving an answer
to the question here.thanks.

I tried to follow the instructions below step by step:To change the
authentication mode from Windows NT Authentication Mode (only) to Mixed
Mode, use the following steps:
1.. Open the Enterprise Manager.
2.. Expand a Server group.
3.. Right-click a server name, and then click Properties.
4.. Click the Security tab.
5.. Under Authentication, click the SQL Server and Windows option button.
6.. Restart SQL Server in order for the change to take effect.
but when I right-clicked the server name(local) and Properties,there comes a
message box:'
A connection could not be established to (Local)
Reason: Login failed for user '*******\*******'...
please verify SQL server is running and check your SQL server registration
properties .
My SQL server IS running and no matter what i did to the SQL server
registration properties i still can't connect to the local SQL server.
Why????

Re: How can i get the login name and password for my local SQL server?
Try this: In the EM, edit the SQL Server registration
properties and set it to 'Use SQL Server Authentication'.
Then put sa and the password that you have set last time.
See if this allows you to connect to the server.
