Upgrading woes
I've been doing some windows 2000 installs most of them were complete installs and went smoothly.
However this one was an upgrade from 98SE.
After the NTFS convert on the restart I recieved the following:
"
Error
c:\windows\sytem\aldmgr.cpl
failed unexpectedly error 0
Fatal Error
Setup was unable to retrieve the product ID because of the following error
RegOpenKeyEx(system\setup\pid)
returned error 2 (2)
Setup was unable to retrieve the product identification of the system you are installing the Windows 2000 media may be dammaged
"
I do know that windows 2000 cd is not the problem since I have used it to install 2000 on several other pcs. I did a search on the product id error. I read something dealing with XP Pro and a .man file.
any ideas?
Thanks
