linux compaq tape
Hi,
I'm installing Linux Redhat 7.3 on a Compaq Proliant DL380 Server with 6
hot-pluggable hard-drives. On of the hot-pluggable slots can be used to
insert a tape-drive which i would like to do (AIT 35), but Linux doesn't
recognize the SCSI-device. It seems that if i enable the hardware raid
controller (Smart Array 5i controller, using cciss-driver), the tape drive
isn't seen by the OS. How can i resolve this ??
If i look in the /proc filesystem , it says that there are no scsi-devices
attached. There are two hot pluggable disks in a mirroring raid
configuration, which host the root filesystem, but they are not recognized
as SCSI-devices (RAID-controler makes it transparent, i suppose). I can
load the st module (and the scsi-mod, and sd_mod), but the device simply
isn't seen. In case, the tape shows up in the /proc filesystem, how can it
be accessed?
It seems there is the same problem with the cpqarray driver, but i'm using
cciss.
Any info much appreciated
tx
