Hello To All,

Am currently using Mike Meyers NET+ 2k2 to prepare for
test. Do not have a single day in the field ( YET )
I was a HVAC installer & service tech ( used to troubleshooting, using all
maner of tools/metering devices for diagnoses )
but other than self taught knowledge thats all i have for prep, Got hurt &
need this & A+ for new career direction, is a little l
ate as i am pushing mid 40's ..... I'm a quick study got the concepts down
pat but these permissions kickin' my butt. To what
extent do the post tests prepare you for exam.

It's not too late. I've seen people start in their late 40's or early
50's.

Get a couple of computers you can practice on. This is a place where
a used computer equipment store can be a big help. From there, follow
any labs in the study guide.

If you are new to computer work, you may want to get your A+ in
addition to (or actually before) your Network+. You can find some
study materials for that one here:

After that, get some hands one experience. If you can't get some
experience through your job, volunteer some time. A church, charity,
or community organization is usually thankful for some help. Once
you've sat around for three hours one evening trying to figure out why
a computer won't boot, you'll have a good understanding of that
particular problem.

Personally i would suggest you do not delay taking the exams.
i used the Mike Meyers A+ 4th Ed book CD adaptive tests as a
benchmark. i then sat both the exams one after the other and got a
score virtually identical to the scores i got on the practice tests.

In addition to the Mike Meyers books (which I highly recommend) I would also
suggest using the Transcenders. Transcenders usually have a minimum score
that is 100 points higher than the actual cert test and questions that are
tougher. If you can pass those exams, you'll do well on the actual cert
test.
