In a cert slump. Help needed!

Hello Everyone,

I am in a cert slump. I cannot seem to motivate myself for the MCSA/E. Or, any other cert for that matter.

I work about 50-60 hours per week and am attending night school two days per week for an MBA.

I am married and have two kids.

I have about 3 late evenings per week to use for studying certs. I have all the books I need plus CBT Nuggets, and study guides from Transcender, Test King, and Troy/Test Killer. The only thing I'm lacking is motivation.

After the first of the year, I will be commuting 100 miles to work every day. I was thinking of getting some audio tapes, but don't want to waste money on something I won't use.

Can anyone help me get jumpstarted? Thanks!

but what if the boy is well versed in the way of the penguin? it could be hard to stop him from thinking he is using linux.

i do know what you mean though. the motivation i had for my a+ was being made redundant. i did my core exam the week after i was seeking employment. mind you, i got a job within a month and wasn't able to take my o/s exam for another six.

Take advantage of the small pockets of time during your work day - you get breaks and lunch - get away from people - go to your car and read in the car with no distractions.

Personally, I think you're simply taking on too much all at once. Why stress over certs when you're working towards your MBA. One thing at a time for a little piece of mind

Hey man, let me give you some advice....
50-60 working hours a week, plus night school for an MBA plus a wife and 2 kids...
you need to take a rest dude, that's twice what most people can take, you'll wear yourself out and want to stop everything soon...
Keep up the good work but don't load yourself down, that's why you think your in a slump already..

i say wait till you finish the MBA, then you'll still be used to school and will be able to devote yourself to the cert's..
Good Luck.

I think these guys are right. You can't do it all at once.

The only other suggestion I have is that you take public transport to work if that's possible, and study on the bus or train.
