I accept. Otherwise, someone could have predicted dot-com crash at the time when all were bleating 'dot-com, dot-com, dot-com'
Also, someone could have predicted the IT job market. I remember I read some "prediction" in 2000. "There will be severe shortage for IT workers"
Now you see.

Agree, they're just trying to convince themselves.
At the beginning of this year someone told me : "It'll go better in fourth quarter"
Now other people told me "It will start over at mid 2003".
That's okay, let's see what is gonna happen (crossing hardly my fingers for all of us in the field).

Just echoing the sentiments as well after reading the article. All the article really says is that these are IDC's predictions. But I think Bush is right in that it will take the IT sector longer than the rest of the economy to pick up and I don't expect to see significant increases in hiring next year. I hope I'm wrong, but not likely.

Sweet talks, are they God, I think they should stop their professional lies and face reality. Times are indeed hard economically worldwide and this has affected the IT job market the most. I think it would get worse before it even gets better. It's the truth it hurts but it's the truth. I just hope it all ends soon than anticipated.

I was watching breakfast news TV a couple of days ago and they interviewed a couple of plumbers. It is entirely normal for a plumber in the UK to earn £60,000 - £80,000 or about $90,000 - $120,000/annum. One plumber had just put his son through the training: costing about £10,000. So some sectors are very healthy.
It appears that students go for media studies ...
Want a change of career (UK)?
Plumber.

I'm sure there are some blue-collar professions that are wide open still. The nursing industry STILL has much availability in terms of jobs. Have you tried cold lifting a 300-lb. pericare resident out of bed lately? This is why there are plenty of nursing openings available in my area. Granted, my example may be an oversimplification, but when you pair a physically demanding job with relatively low pay salary, you get openings galore.
