win2k to win98 connection-password?
Its me again!!!
I have managed to connect my pc to my step dads. I have had a successful connection from winxp to win98 and everything was fine.
I have now tried win2k to win98, my win2k can access all of the shared files etc. on the 98 machine, but when we try it the other way round, we are asked for a password to log on to the connection.
Where does this come from as i don't remember setting one up?
In case any of you were reading about my problems getting a home lab set up, i think that this points towards the NIC in the laptop being the culprit, even though the link lights came on and device manager said all was ok....
i am a bit happier now anyway!!!

the same problem got me when i hooked up a win2k pc to a win98 pc in my lab last week. the username and password of each person required to connect has to be defined in the <submit name of applet> applet in the control panel beforehand.

Me too. Got all the help I needed from cm2gj. Although it took him 3 replies to get it through my thick skull, LOL!
