Token Ring Problem
I am Token Ring newbie.
I am connecting two Cisco 2500 series router to IBM 8228 MAU.
However, I have some problem:
%TR-3-OPENFAIL: Unit 0, open failed: Phys. Insertion, ring beaconing
%TR-3-BADSTART: Unit 0, Start completion and wrong idb state - state= 0
TR0: reset from 3045766
TR0: txtmr: 0x0, msclk: 0x11B358, qt: 0 (0ms)
starting.
RouterA
interface TokenRing0
ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
ring-speed 16
RouterB
interface TokenRing0
ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
ring-speed 16
Is my MAU faulty?

Do both router connections to MAU exhibit this problem? On any of the
8 ports? Have you tried spare cables? Nothing else is plugged into
MAU, including RI/RO ports? This MAU used to have a port
initialization tool, have you used that? Do you get same result with
speed set at 8?

Most likely cause is that you need to run the Setup Aid Tool. You can make
one if you have the part (google: 8228 setup aid tool aol)
