An "off topic" question

Hi folks,

I was doing a little work on a system a few days ago and came across some
thinf I thought was very cool. When I right click on "my computer" acnd
choose properties (win 98) the first screen that loads is the "General' tab.
Well a local company had built this computer a few years ago and somehow
they had managed to put their company logo below the windows logo on that
screen. They also had a button there that you could click to show everything
they had put into the system as well as there phone number for support. I
figured this was downright genius and wondered if anyone out there knows how
this can be done. I dont really need to add a clickable button but would
sure like to add a graphic there. Let me know if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks,

Les

Re: An "off topic" question

Mostly they are good, except for the losers that just want to criticize
people on their typing and English rather than helping people out, I believe
that's what the newsgroup for.

Criticizing people on their typing and English? Just kidding.

Yes, it is very simple (I even have a batch file for each OS for it)...

But by rights, you are only supposed to do this if you are a Micro$oft
OEM, and you install that OS as part of the original build.

Re: An "off topic" question

It's generally done as part of the OEM pre-install (there's an OEM
pre-insall kit you can get). It can be modified fairly easily, as explained
in other posts, but I wouldn't recommend it, since you (or the next owner)
may need the information some day. At least back up (i.e., rename vs.
delete) the original files. You could add to it though. Install
key?^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H No I didn't say that.
