monitor has "vibrating vertical strings" in redhat!
Hi,
I've installed redhat8.0 and when I turn gnome on @1024*768 there are
"vibrating vertical strings", sortof disturbances, I can change their
position from my tft display (150S) but can't shake them of so to say.
redhat finds the monitor and the right refreshrates etc. (checked the
specs for the monitor) and my riva tnt2 card. I don't have any problems
in windows on my dualboot machine! any ideas anyone? help!
many thanks in advance,
fredu

Try changing your monitor scan rates (in RH 8, controlled within
/etc/X11/XF86Config). Make sure you examine your monitor's manual to
discover which rates are allowed.

I had a similar problem on a Hed Rat 7.3 box I built for a customer. I
lowered the refresh rate from what the Hed Rat installer detected and
the problem went away. If a lower refresh rate doesn't fix it for you
then perhaps someone else will have more ideas.
