Hey all,

I am writing the A+ Dos/Win exam tomorrow and anticipate no problems(passed the Core with 713 2 weeks ago), and was looking for opinions on what to do next.

Should I go for I-Net+ or Network+?

I feel that I am stronger on the subject matter covered in I-Net+ so am thinking of doing that one first. But any input from people who have taken one of the exams(or both) would be appreciated.

Basically, is the knowledge from I-Net+ going to help me in Network+ or would Network+ help me more on I-Net+?

It works both ways. Frm my experience about 1/4 of the material on the Network+ was repeated on the i-Net+, so taking either will help you with the other. I found the i-Net+ tended to deal with a few topics that I was unfamiliar with sich as e-commerce, copyrights and security issues. If you're down with all these, go for it. I found that talking these two exams close together helped me a lot with regards to study time since the material overlapped some.

Like Randy says there is somwhat of an overlap between the 2 exams. Do the one that you have the most background and knowledge in first. I did the i-Net+ first because I hads more hands on in that area. Whichever you do first, you will cover some of the other so you get a double payoff in the learning cycle, just keep them as close together as possible.

I will echo my much wiser predecessors. Take the one that you feel the most comfortable with.

The thing that kills most i-Net+ want-to-be's is the width of the topics not the depth. I took it first because I was an MCSE and a programmer. If you don't have any of the background I would almost say take the Network+ first. It feeds into the i-Net+ and it sounds like you had planned on doing it anyway. Add in the programming and e-commerce stuff and then you are set for the i-Net right after.

Bottom line though: Take the one that you are interested in because you have to spend the time with the books!
