Thumbs up

Took this test today and passed it. SPEECH! SPEECH! Now that I have achieved the CompTIA trilogy, what's next? First, I must compliment the industry, forums like this one and especially CompTIA for providing an avenue for me within 1 year to go from a financial based analyst to a much more informed business analyst equipped with a conceptual (not entirely hands on) knowledge of IT industry terms, concepts, protocols, etc... Previously I sat in meetings and got humbled listening to discussions about reverse proxy servers, T1's, VPNs, frame relays, OSI's, TCP/IP and other stuff I knew nothing about. However, using this CompTIA training/cert path, I was able to learn the industry basics by taking it 1 step at a time (by the way, you really need to do it A+, N+, inet+). Now, can I go get work in a hardcore IT job with these credentials, hummmm, don't think so. However, I can lead, and have lead, IT related meetings, or inform my management about the critical technical paths to take. (Excuse me while I wipe the tears away.) Finally, what's next. Probably CIW, maybe MCP FP2000 since I currently support 3 HTML sites. Also, learn VB and get better at SQL?? Don't know. However, for those of you still awake, get certs to be more well rounded, but, also learn the business side, accounting, finance, marketing-(Q. why not install new OS server patches on accounting's server during the last and first weeks of the month?? A-because it's month end closing-KNOW THE BUSINESS SIDE.) By the way, this test was suprisingly tough. (If you're like me and in doubt, I'd put it off a week and perhaps go to B&N and glance through some other books just to be sure.) Again, I know some may not want to here it but, at least take N+ first. And remember - be a life learner!!
