IP conflict
I am working on a very large network and was wondering what is the best, free, downloadable program to determine the name of the computer with the ip conflict. any suggestions would help.

Re: IP conflict
If you have an idea which one it might be, you could ping the computer name and it will give you
the ip of that computer.
I have a question though. Wouldn`t make more sense to have a DHCP server on a large network?

Re: IP conflict
If you have a WINS server up, you can sometimes locate the conflicts in the
WINS database.
Other than that, I always use a sniffer to find the culprit...

Re: IP conflict
Well here's an idea.....
Disconnect the machine that you are working on from the network. Then move
to another machine on the LAN and run the NSLOOKUP command from the command
prompt and see what hostname you receive with that IP address.
Just an idea hope it helps.
