Forum idea

I was just thinking about something that may or may not be a good idea. How about creating a forum called "Off topic" or the like? Seems like 60-70% of the posts in the General forum don't really apply to the topic at all. No offense to anybody as I do it too. I agree that fun should be had here, but I believe having another forum would be more appropriate for some of the posts. It would definately sort the, for lack of a better word, clutter from the more important on topic posts. I mean do the threads "Survivor", no offense Webmaster, and "Whats everybodys first name?" fit into the description "General discussion about anything and everything related to Information Technology and certifications"?

Just a thought.

Slinky, I believe that is why the General Discussion forum was created. So people could discuss "Anything in General"

Sounds like a good idea for me, but the Webmaster takes the decisions and I think that he will not agree with this, because currently there is a "General Discussion".

I understand perfectly that this forum is "General Discussion". I brought this up because if you read under it on the forums home page it says

"General discussion about anything and everything related to Information Technology and certifications."

All I was saying is that threads like this definately do not fit under that description. Once again no offense to those posters, just trying to make a point. I could go on an on with these kinds of posts, but they are just mere examples.

http://www.examnotes.net/forums/sho...?threadid=37677

http://www.examnotes.net/forums/sho...?threadid=59779

http://www.examnotes.net/forums/sho...?threadid=61715

And there are threads in other forums that definately don't apply to the topic. Like this one

http://www.examnotes.net/forums/sho...?threadid=59708

You might say that it would be more apporopriate here, but is it really?

I feel that there are 3 simple solutions to this. Webmaster can change the description of the forum, add a new one or none of the above and just leave it the way it is. Any way its no skin off my back, just trying to make it more user friendly.

Ultimately this is up to the Webmaster, obviously, so I guess what I'm asking for is your opinion. You're not going to hurt my feelings any way.

A better idea: A chatroom! I have brought this up a few times in the past.

Who will head up this "misguided thread" police? no wait dont tell me AMDWizard!

Would you feel better if it was...

"General discussion about anything and everything related to Information Technology ,certifications and anything that pops into your head"

Now this is just my opinion and reflects nothing on anyone elses views or opinions (or General discussions about anything and everything related to Information Technology and certifications)

Chat room would be cool though. Anyone ever been on Grex..something like that would be fun.

i think a chatroom has been proposed before, but i cannot remember why the decision was made against it. perhaps it was to do with people wanting info and only being able to chat to people in their own timezone, ie when an australian or new zealander is having trouble in the afternoon or evening, the only people they can talk to are people as far west as the europeans who would be just getting out of bed as the americans would be in theirs.

most of the posts in the general forum do fit the description, if anything it can contain threads meant for mcse, salaries, a+ forums, etc.
