5.5 and problems within the IMS queue

I'm having this problem with my IMS queue on Exchange 5.5. I can't seem to fix. I host email for a large organization that spans multiple sites.

I have turned off Mail Relay and doing test show, I receive messages that mail relay is prohibited but here's my problem.

Whenever I open the queue, I notice that in the Queue name "Outbound messages awaiting delivery" there are messages going through that do not have an originator.

Most messages that go through have an internal orignator address and external domain destination. But every time I go in there I find 20-30 emails with no originator, I figured it was someone relaying through my server. Now that I have confrimed that Mail Relay is prohibited on the server - I'm not sure where these messages are coming from and how to stop them.

Any suggestions or comments are apreciatted.

Thanks - BF

Unhappy Exchange 5.5 messages in outbound queue

Beenframed,

I have the same problem, did you find the causality yet? We're small but have multiple sites like you.

I know they are undeliverables. I am trying to figure out how to eliminate them from interacting with my exchange server.
