Thumbs up "Simon said"

Somebody said the following in some other forum (I hope I'm not breaking any rule here, and that the material is not copyrighted!-I'm just copy/pasting it).
I find it a valuable info on what to know to pass the "monster".

"SCSI Know it forwards and backwards, not just pretty good, KNOW IT. Know each standard, performance, CABLE lengths,IDs and termination. Expect questions like you have a SCSI 2 wide hard drive on a SCSI x Host. You replace the Host with a SCSI x super duper wide fast yada yada what is the transfer rate of the hard drive?

Know what kind of cable is used, not just 50 pin, or 68 what abreviations are also used.

I have never seen some configurations they describe IE Two computers sharing a RAID system. Know it can be done but I don't work with any servers but small ones.

Know RAID

Know the different tape systems. Things like which ones can read the older types.

Expect some different NOS questions like how do you shutdown UNIX/Linux not just shutdown commands but init commands.

What types of server file systems can you attach to with a DOS boot floppy.

I can not recommend any books because I went off half cocked figuring I am pretty good with test and only spent a day preping because I feel I have a pretty strong HW understanding. The test is much harder than A+, the questions are tricky. Read them carefully, think about how the system boots (details) when would the given problem be detected, IE BIOS, Boot, or NOS. Would the situation pass POST but fail later.

I made an 82 and was happy to get out with my hide. Not a giveme by any means. Some questions I would argue have two right answers. After a Full backup an incrimental or a differential would be of equal value (not mixing of course) not sure their rational".
