Multilanguage
ok need a bit of advice.
say you had offices in the usa and in germany. communication between the 2
offices were all done in english, but the offices in germany need to
communicate to others in germany using the german language.
i know that you can install the english version in both offices, and install
the german locale settings in the german office, but would would it be more
advisable to install the german version in the german offices and install
english locales aswell to switch between?
i had a question and was unsure which would b more advisable, the options
were 'english/german/translated/multilanguage, i know its either going to be
ebglish or german.
what would you select?

Re: Multilanguage
Micheal,
The best option would be what I did on a previous desktop deployment
project for Windows 2000.
We had to support 12 languages, but the main company language was
English and had to ensure that peoiple could at elast go to any
workstation within the company and be ale to switch to English.
The way we did this was to use the Multilanguage version of Windows
2000 and plugged in the Multi Language Pack for the local country for
both the O/S and also for Office as well.
We then as part of the build placed some shortcuts on the desktop that
called a batch file to either call the English interfaces or the local
language interfaces, thereby allowing someone travelling to be able to
switch the interfaces for both thhe O/S and office to English or the
local coutry language.
Just one point to be aware of is even though you can do this the area
we had most issues with was the difference between AZERTY and QWERTY
keyboards, and thats were most of the issues came from :-)

Re: Multilanguage
yea i know that would work but the question specifies 'at a minimum' and
that is not to put on multilanguage im afraid!!
cheers for the help. iv covered the topic in 2 books 'sybex 70-210 and
syngress 70-210, they simply say deploy the localised version then instal
aditional languages; which in the american office would b english and in the
german ofice would be german, but as the company is american and they will
be communicating in both i was unsure, im going to go with german on this 1
i think!!

Re: Multilanguage
German in the German offices, English in the English offices. Correspondance
can still be made in English using the German versions - just change the
keybaord layout/locale/whatever and this would probably work better
