why is it that after one fail an exam, instead of hitting the book, cisco sites, and other sources, they want more *pratice* questions...

you have looked at some of the question pool, what else do you need?

I want to say my weakness is all of it I took a cisco class for a week. Then i've used cert21 for two weeks. When I go and take the test the questions still don't make sense.

This is a hard test. To be perfectly honest I think you need to put some more time in it. I studied just under 3 months. Go to the cisco site and view the objectives. Go through each one. Study all those topics. Get a good book or two. I personally like Cisco Press, but many people choose Sybex's ccna study guide. TAKE NOTES. I cant stress how much that helped me. I would of knocked one month off my study time if I had started taking notes earlier. Boson practices tests are good and cheap. I used them and loved them. Also I recomend CCNA ESIM by Cisco Press, great lab, great videos, great questions. Its about 100 but worth all the money. When you get to the point were you can take a look at the objectives and explain every topic to your self, thats when you know that you are close. Also when you take the test again, read the questions. Some of them made no sence to me, but I took a deep breath and reread it slowly. There were a few that at first glance, I thought I should just guess right off the bat, but reread it, and it was a easy question.

Good Luck

I've been studying for almost 2 months, including reading 1000+ pages of the Cisco 607 Exam Prep, working with real routers and simulators, compiling flashcards from web sites and questions of the day that I get in e-mail. I do web searches from topics that I don't quite get a handle on and drill down. I also have taken all of my notes from various studies and turned them into audio that I listen to for 1-2 hours a day. Along with all of this, I have practiced questions from the CD that came with the Cisco Press book and Lammle's 607 quiz that I purchased. I passed two SkillDrill tests and have practiced with online quizes from dozens of sites. I feel that I am almost ready to take the test. (I will take it before the end of July.) My question is what can any class do for you in a week that compares to this? You need to get more theory from text, practical application from real routers and sims. Then maybe more practice questions will help you not just pass the exam but really feel confident with the CCNA materials. I'm not saying this to brag, I'm saying this is what you should expect to do to really get a hold of a subject such as this and be able to pass an exam of this type. I have read comments that the 4 semester Cisco Academy is not fully adequate to prepare someone for the exam, let alone a week long class. Good luck!

help.......

I really dont know what oders may think but you know that you have to try harder.... get a good book read it then do the practice questions ... then practice on simulators until you get it right then practice some more ... (that was the advice...)
now go to this page http://www.braincert.com/
and and practice even more.... when you feel sure your finished...

start kikking ... confidently...

I hope i´ve shed some light on the subject...

best of luck ...

I must agree with Jeff. (By the way Jeff, it sounds like you are ready! Go for it!!)

A one week course with no other study than the cert21 materials almost guarantees a failing score on the exam. Buy or borrow a book! Buy or borrow an ESim!

Study, Study and Study

Jeff_J_Black

You have said all the correct things.
Study for a month or more solid (ie 15hrs per week or more)
Read more than one book (Sybex and CISCO Flash Cards and CISCO CCNA Exam Certification Guide)
Do a number of exam simulations (3 or more different ones)
Conduct web research.
If possible be a student in a class (one that goes for more than a week, more like 6 months or more)

"I have read comments that the 4 semester Cisco Academy is not fully adequate to prepare someone for the exam, let alone a week long class."

It all depends of course on the Instructor, but yes the course is enough to pass the CCNA exam, especially if the Instructor has done the exam.

Jeff, I think it is time you sat the exam.
