 MCSE Requirements changed
I already put a post in the 217 forum and general Windows 2000 forum, but I figured I'd post it here as well just to make sure you don't miss this info...
The MCSE requirements at http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/...equirements.asp have changed.
Before you needed all of 215, 216 and 217 and additionally one of 219, 220, 221 or 226.
Now you need any two out of 215, 216 and 217. You also need any two out of 219, 220, 221 and 226.
So, if you already have 215 and 217, passing 216 will not bring you any closer to MCSE status...

The temptation is going to be to bypass the 216. I would still highly recommend to anyone seriously interested in administering a network infrastructure to not bypass the 216. Yes, it's by far the most difficult of the cores, but the understanding and knowledge you gain is truly invaluable.

Yes, I re-read those requirements - one now has the choice of skipping 215, 216, or 217. I can imagine which one most people will choose!

Does this apply to people already on the MCSE track or is it for people just joining it now, since I have the 4 core , 2 electives and am now about to do the design exam. Would this mean that I wouldnt get my mcse unless I did another design exam ?

I would think so, but check with MS to be sure.
Which is why one should make haste when working through this type of program.

It still says at the top of the page
4 core
1 design
2 electives.
Talk about a confusing mess
I think it is a typo error by the look of it.
Surely Microsoft would let you know well in advance of any changes to the track and not just drop certs like that without telling anyone.
Seems kind of irresponsible to me, and makes me inclined to believe that it is a typo.

The way I read it, if you have your MCSE you're fine. If you're on your way to getting it, you better re-check your schedule.
If you have 215, 216 and 217, you've done a lot of work for nuffin...

I think they simply didn't update _all_ of the page. I don't think the change is a simply typo, 'cause I'd imagine they have pretty rigid requirements for having their web pages changed. So, any changed would need to be thought through. But, it wouldn't be the first time a change is made without all dependencies being checked...
Also, "Microsoft reserves the right to change requirementes without prior notification" yada yada yada.
Having said that, it would have made a whole lot of sense to have a transition period where you needed either (the old stuff) or (the new stuff).
Anyone who has passed 215, 216 AND 217 but still hasn't passed all exams is now pretty pissed off. Or hasn't heard the news.
And any company that publishes training material for MCSE (including MSPress) should be pretty annoyed to.

 Hmmm ............
It may be me, but the way I read it is that you either have to do the 216 or the new .Net Infrastructure exam either way 216 hasn't gone and as the new .Net exams are not available until next year you will still have to complete 216 to get your MCSE.
