Jobs?????

Hello all,

I got my MCSE last November, and still having problems finding employment.
I've worked in the computer field for nearly 20 years mostly with mini and
micro computers. and worked with NT since 3.51.

Any suggestions??

T.J.

Unfortunately there just isn't much out there right now. I was lucky enough
to get something at the beginning of March. (Not sure how much longer they
will need me.) I had to take a small step back to be able to keep the
house, etc. As you mave have read in the NG, certs will get you past HR and
experience will get you the job. I had several "sure" things turn out to
not go through, so don't get your hopes too high. Keep looking until to
have your offer letter.

Try to network with as many people as possible. Check web sites of
companies that are in and around Denver that you think might have a position
for you. Many of them have stopped posting information on Monster, Dice,
etc. becuase they don't need to in this market. Keep sending out those
resumes to the jobs that you do find. Make sure that you tailor your
resume as much as possible to what is in the ads. If you can do this it
will get you an interview.

Hopefully things will be turning around here before too long.

Hi Thomas:

Teddy is right about networking. Schmoozing for job leads may be your most
effective tactic since HR departments now cope with blizzards of resumes for
decent openings.

Since IT managers like to hire their friends or people recommended by their
friends, you may want to follow the business listings of your local and
regional newspapers for after hours meetings affecting your special skills.
Then become a regular (no skipped meetings), volunteer your services for the
benefit of the group, get to be known as someone who can get things done,
etc. Maybe even invest a few dollars to print some snappy business cards.
Let your affable personality shine, then network for job leads.

Good luck!

Tony
