web server

I am wanting to make my windows 2000 machine a web server for a small site,
but I am not sure how to do it I have tried to search fro software that does
it but I carnet get them to work.

I have an BTO connection working through an Asus ev6000 router which is
always on with a permanent ip and then I have a few pc on the network. i can
share the pages with the pcs on my side of the router but cant access them
from the out side. Can you ping a pc on a network from the other side of the
router?

Mik

You'll need to configure static IP and port translations on the outside to
the inside of your router.

Never heard of that brand or model. Have you checked their web site for
deployment scenarios or technical support?

Re: web server

Also have to uses NAT because I only have on ip from BTO so can you do it
over the NAT or do I have to plug the old modem back in and share the
connection though the ICS again?

Re: web server

thinking it is something to do with the NATs and "port forwarding" all I
need to know is how it works cant find it in any of the net + stuff. Sybex

Will give solwise a ring in the morning (who I got it from)

if anyone knows a good web site or something that could be help full about
nats and port forwarding. especially with an asus router. thanks

Mik

Nothing needs to change in the routing table.

Static NAT is required from the outside to inside.

A Network+ technician usually will not have the skills required hence it
wouldn't show the details in a N+ study guide.
