Why so worried??
Hey everyone...
I'm interested in finding out why everyone is so worried about these new exams?
I think they are great - they are going to sift the people who really know their stuff from those people who are just in it to have a few letters behind their name and an increase in salary.
Anybody can study a book parrot-fashion and pass an exam - as proven by an "MCSE" I met the other day who could barely switch on her PC let alone work through Windows. These exams should test your knowledge of the concepts and what to do to troubleshoot them - exactly what you would need in the real world!!
IMHO if you are interested in getting your CCNP certification for what it means and not for what it can get you, you should be thankful for the change of exams.

Good point, but it seems to me that you are anti-Micro$oft. Its still the giant and would continue to be for a foreseeable future.
Just my humble sincere opinion.

I don`t think he is anti microsoft so much as he is fed up with certified idiots.
He didn`t bash MS just and MCSE he knows.
I have seen the same situation with CCNA`s and almost every other certification track.
A couple of the instructors at the local Cisco Adcademy couldn`t pass the the origional test the first time, I`d hate to see them try the new tests hehe.
I think Cisco is on the right track with the new tests.

Thanks onoski - yip, I'm an IT chick and proud of it!!
And I'm not anti-Microsoft, it was just an example!
I'm anti people who get paper-certified, don't know jack about the stuff and give the rest of us a bad name!!
I know quite a few people who have failed the new CCNA because even though they do actually know the material, they don't have enough understanding of it to be able to implement and troubleshoot it effectively...

Dear All,
I consider my MCSE a great achievement toward my career since it was the gate that I went through to the real world of communication and technology.. It opened my eyes that I still have a lot to do and that I’m still in the basement of the knowledge and I have to gain more knowledge and here I am, I became CCNA and now to the CCNP..

Other than passing the test how else can one gauge a person knowledge of cisco. Everyone is a paper cert. Naturally some people know a little more than others. In the end we all have the same peice of paper. Don't blame no success on other peoples succes.

i dont understand why people dont realise there are no simulated exams for microsoft......even though i am into cisco more than microsoft....its unfair to generalise that many MCSE's are only good at paper. I have seen a lot of MCSE's who are really good and will give us a run for the money.....

If you consider the MCSE cert worthless why sit for the exams then. The mcse is just like any other qualification only that is vendor specific. Like it or not there would still be millions after this cert in the future, so if you're feeling so what then simply put don't sit for it then period. I'm sorry if I sound a bit harsh but am fed up of people putting the cert down and still having it boldly by there cert profile, hyfresis I'd say well seriously I think people are just jealous of others getting the cert.
