What does the cert do for my job?

Sorry for the lame subject.

Besides the immense personal satisfaction, the admiration of my peers, and a neat piece of paper to hang on the wall...

What does being CCNA (or CCNP, etc) do for me if I'm currently employed? Will it give me a 'special' level of tech support from Cisco if I have problems? Would I get a discount on equipment?

The only info I found on Cisco's site seemed to apply to VARs or distributors. Does it do anything for for a business that has it's own IT department?

Just looking for some info to back me up when I hit the boss up for a raise. (We are an all Cisco shop, btw)

Thanks,
Bill

Certifications can allow your company to become a Cisco Partner and give them bigger discounts when they purchase equipment. Each level of Partner requires a certain number of certifications including CCIEs. Info on the different levels is available on the Cisco web site.
