RRAS Policy Confusion
Anybody else having trouble digesting RRAS Policy. I am confused about the Condidtions, Policies, Profiles. It is just not clicking. I studied it for 215 and didn't grasp it all at that time either. The MS Press Book is not very reader friendly.

I memorized the following when I learned it. It helped me to keep everything in proper perspective.
"A user's remote access priviliges consist of a combination of that user's dial-in permission and the conditions, permission, and profile of the remote access policy."
A user's dial-in permissions are accessed from that user's account properties dial-in tab in Active Directory Users and Computers.
The conditions, permissions, and profile are specified when you configure the RAS policy in the Routing and Remote Access Service snap-in.
From there, learn to specify your RAS conditions to match your required criteria. Next understanding the permissions are pretty easy. And last, learn what you can configure on the different profile tabs. You'll learn that some of the conditions and profile settings overlap.
Finally, learn how all this interrelates and interacts with each other and how RAS policy is applied and ordered.
When you break everything down like this, it's not so hard to learn.
PS: There weren't many RRAS questions on my 218 exam, but there were a few simple ones. For the 216 exam, it's a completely different story, expect about 35%-40% RRAS and all of them in great depth!

Nope! Didn't even use the MS Press book to learn RRAS.
Sorry for the above boring response, but lets face it, learning and grasping the finer points of RAS policy is a dull proposition at best, not to mention, an extremely complex and complicated one. Making it exciting, interesting, and fun to learn would be even more so!

Now if you could only convince Microsoft Press of that, I would sure enjoy receiving royalties!

While you guys are debating who wrote the book, I think I've figured this stuff out. Microsoft really likes to make things difficult.
