Smile Firewall With Dsl Connection..

Hi all,

Can someone tell me how to disable the firewall on the Linux box(7.3) with DSL connection .I am connected but failed to surf(browse) on the internet.
Pinging looks ok and someone told me to disable the firewall as I set it "Medium" while installing the OS for the first time.
What command or where to go and disable the firewall...?
Help the poor soul here.
Thanks in advance.

Bobby G.

I'm no expert (yet ), but you may have to reconfigure IPTables. That just basically examines packets sent and received, deciding which to let through and which not to. IPchains/IpTables does not look easy. I have not done that before, but I'm sure there's tutorials out there.

Heh heh...

Silly you...

RedHat firewalling even when set to none during install does NOT actually mean NONE it actually blocks all BUT the following... SSH (22) and SunRPC (111)

Anything more than that and it really locks down the machine...

<g>

do a google search on IPTABLES HOWTO

You can disable the firewall by getting into the CLI, command line interface and type setup. Then select the option firewall and use the space bar to select and deselect the options you want enable or disabled. Lets know how you get on. Cheerio as am in no way or standard a Linux expert yet. But I intend on working hard to get to that stage sometime soon.
