Test Schedule.
Hi,
When I decide that I am ready to face the exam, how far in advance do I have to schedule it ?
Can I register with Prometric for an exam in the morning and sit for the exam that afternoon, register one day and sit the next, etc....
On my A+ practice I am much closer to passing Core than I am OS (since I don't currently have access to Win2k or NT), so I am guessing that I should probably schedule the OS exam before Core because if I pass Core first and do a C&B (Crash & Burn) then the exam window might close before I can pass the second exam.
Any thoughts on which exam to take first ?
Thanks

I don't know if Prometric do the same things in the US as they do here in Europe, I imagine they do. You have to register with them first and get a number. That number is yours for good. All it takes is a simple phone call. Check prometric.com for details. You CAN go straight to the testing center and buy an exam entry voucher. Maybe not all testing centers sell them. You can do the exam immediately if they have room. I suggest book with them at least 2 days in advance. One less thing to worry about.

depending on what test you want to take
this is what I did for both my A+ and Net+ and what I plan to do for ccna and mcse
about a week before I think I'm ready go to www.ExamVoucherss.com (only works for comptia tests saves $35 on each one though) give em my credit card # and in less than 48 hours I have am exam voucher
when I know I'm ready call prometric and schedule the exam for asap (longest wait was 3 hours)
pass test, drink beer
you have until next march to take em both
I went os first and core 3 days later (but I kind of studied it as one test not two)
if your going to treat it as two separate tests and put a little time between em, then I'd cram as much of the core (mostly just memorization) as possible, take that and then take my time with the OS (you have 10 months)
good luck

It also depends on how busy your local testing center is. Sometimes mine is booked up for weeks, other times you can slide in the next day. If you can test in the middle of the day, your chances are probably better for getting a lest minute appointment.
I like to schedule a couple of weeks ahead and then push myself to meet the deadline, but I'm a deadline kinda gal
