Question

What component are you trying to upgrade? You can usally get the BIOS upgrade from the manufacturer.

Hey bluhen99,

Seeing this SCSI Adapter is used for your company's business and controls your tape backups, I would strongly suggest that you call the Adaptec Inside Sales folk at 1-800-442-7274 and ask for their help first. They may direct you over to their Technical Support Group and they will charge you $35 if during normal business hours, but that is a hell of a lot cheaper than you trashing the SCSI controller by messing up the SCSI BIOS!!! Then you won't be able to perform your nightly tape backups!

You can also email the folks at Adaptec tech support but that is slower at: http://register.adaptec.com/ask_us.html

This is an Adaptec SCSI article you need to read for the Boot Disk, Flashing the AHA-294X BIOS: http://ask.adaptec.com/cgi-bin/adap...fcGFnZT0x&p_li=

If you screw up the Flashing the SCSI BIOS, you better read this article at Adaptec #010216-000003 and it will require you have another PC to handle or perform a possible recovery of the SCSI BIOS! Better to be Safe than Sorry my friend, otherwise it could be your job!

Thanks

Thanks for the tip! I was able to flash it successfully by using the readme.txt and a little brain power.
