UNIX s/w integrator job posting

The following is a job posting for a UNIX s/w integration position with my company. The candidate would have to be local to the Charleston, SC area or able to relocate. Strong UNIX skills are a must. Position: Systems Analyst
Location: Charleston, SC
Closing Date: 4/30/02

Job Duties/Responsibilities: The incumbent will be responsible for routine
analysis and systems design, gathering information from users for analysis
of problem areas, developing detailed systems specifications for
conversion to a programming language, and working with lower level
software integrators and testers to achieve assigned tasking. Will also
work with USMC, SPAWAR Project Engineers and other Service customers to
achieve workable software solutions to operational problems.

Education/Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
or related IT field or HS diploma and four years experience with Military
software programs. Must be familiar with UNIX or LINUX Administration,
networking, and USMC C4I. Additional knowledge of Solaris, DII COE, Shell
Programming, and Oracle experience preferred. Troubleshooting and
supporting software upgrades and interfaces with external systems desired.
Individual must be a detail-oriented self-starter able to work in a fast
paced, dynamic environment and must be capable of performing multiple
tasks. Must have strong communication skills and be able to interface
with a variety of individuals. Must be a team player and work well under
pressure. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security
investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to
classified information.

I think you have just proved a point, but why don't you go and advertise this posting on dice.com or computerjobs.com. As I don't think most of us on this site would not have the qualifications or criteria for this role.

Lastly, remember just because you are in a position to recruit today does not mean you are indispensable. Look at all the big companies downsizing and the likes. Sorry if I sound harsh, but maybe your intensions are genuine but in the wrong manner. Nuff said, am out, thread closed.

What point is that? That looks like an interesting job to me. If I were a little more into the programming side of things and had a BS degree I'd probably apply.

Looks like a sweet gig for a retired military programmer I'm not sure anyone else would qualify -- every military contractor seems to only hire ex-military, so it's hard for non-military folks to get the experience.
