Disable Spell Check
Yes, you can remove spell check altogehter. You have to go to Control Panel and double click the Add/Remove programs icon. Find Microsoft office 2000 and click the Add/Remove button.
When the dialog box opens, click the Add or Remove Features button. Click the + sign by the Office Tools component and then you can remove spell check.
Be aware, you will lose spell check for the entire ms office package!!

By the way, I'll add this info because of what little I know about how the Microsoft Installer works. (MS installer being the installation program used by O2k.)
If you don't want the kiddies to be able to add that back in, you'll have to make sure the O2k files are unavailable to them (either over the network, or from a CD, etc.). Otherwise they could just reinstall that feature.
I know that's kind of obvious too, but because of the nature of MS Installer, if a kid hits F7 to try to spellcheck and it's not installed, yet Office has the files needed available, it may prompt to install spellcheck/thesaurus on-the-fly. The only way to keep it from being reinstalled at that point is if the installation files aren't present when the kid clicks "OK" and Office goes to look for them.
Now, if you really want to prevent that, when you're first installing Office, make sure to select "This feature will not be available" for spellcheck (as opposed to "Install on first use" or any other option). That way Office will simply believe the feature is unavailable, even if you had O2k Premium CD1 sitting in your CD-ROM drive
