I don't believe that arrays are on the Excel MOUS exam, but, perhaps someone can explain what an array is, as well as how and WHY I would use it. It seems that when you use the Subtotal feature (if I recall correctly) Excel auto creates an Array formula, and I can't quite decipher it. If u know of a decent web link that shows a good example, I'd appreciate that. The on-line help on Arrays doesn't do it for me.

Just FYI, I've been through the Core test for Excel 2000, and I didn't see a thing about arrays.

Then again, you're probably talking about the Expert exam. Most people take that one (or so it seems to me, at least)

At the Excel 2000 Expert exam objectives webpage, I found something. Under the "Displaying and Formatting Data" header is the item "Use subtotaling". So, if an array is created while making a subtotal, it could very well be on the test. I'll see if I can dig up what an array is...

Yes, I am going for Expert Cert. level (I'm crazy enough, so Y not?) Arrays are NOT on the expert level, but, it happens under CONDITIONAL sum add-in (I was close. The regular subtotal feature does not use arrays.)

I like your quote, and, am, obviously taking your advice. It IS better to be "over" prepared, which I was for the Word Exam. I hope to take the Excel exam later this week.
