Mon 70-218 Question of the Day...
Q15. You are the network admin. You setup a new W2K Server machine called "Aerosmith" to provide a corporate Intranet to your company's W2K forest. "Aerosmith" already has IIS 5.0 installed. You create a website & want users to access it with this URL:
http:\\tps-reports
Using the least amount of administrative effort, what 2 actions should you take?
A. Create a hosts file for tps-reports, which points to the IP of "Aerosmith", for each PC on the network.
B. Create a WINS entry for tps-reports, pointing to the IP of "Aerosmith."
C. Create a DNS entry for tps-reports that points to the IP of "Aerosmith."
D. Create the tps-reports website as a virtual directory.
E. Configure host headers on "Aerosmith" to include tps-reports.
Good Luck!

The correct answer is "C" & "E".
Configuring a DNS server to point to the IP address, & then setting up host headers will get your corporate Intranet up and running. Host headers rock. They work with pretty much every browser (supposedly) and allow your site to respond to multiple names.
For example, with host headers configured, if your site was "www.mysiterocks.com", you could set it up to respond to:
"mysiterocks.com"
... you get the idea.
