Need advice on CTT+ Video, Please

Hi Folks,
As I mentioned before I passed the CTT+ video written portion. I found it pretty darn gruelling yet not impossible if you studied we'll. I expected it to be a little easier. It was fairly tough, and really long.
Now on to the Video. I have a question. How the heck do I fit all 14 compitencies into one 20 minute video with only one stop.
I have a nice outline plan for the presentation.
1. First Introduction + benefits of material
2. Second Material on subject.(lecture)
3. Stop Tape. Pick up with me doing a presentation.
4. Evaluation of students knowlege
I think I may be able to fit this all in like 22 minutes. I heard you have 22 minutes actually. IS this so? Do you think I have a good base-line here.
Can anyone help me?
Any tips or pointers?
How did anybody do theirs?
You know if you fail just one compentency you must take both of them over again so it is a one time shot here. Also I hear the CTT+ is very beneficial Salary wise and is the most we'll respected trainer certification. Is this so?
Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate your time in reading this.
Sincerely Ian

Hey Ian,

Hope you see this as you posted it some time ago and I have just recently started browsing other forums than the CCNA. I'll try and answer your questions as best I can.

The best advice I can give you is to do the video just as you teach a class.

Make sure you use a wide variety of question types; overhead, direct, redirected etc...

Make good use of at least three types of media on your presentation whiteboard, flip chart, overhead projector

Don't hesitate to use handouts or something else as a demonstration tool example.......I did my video on electrostatic discharge and opened by rubbing a balloon in my hair and sticking it to my shirt.

Make sure during the opening you clearly state the objective of the lesson......the student will learn *this* in this session and make sure you highlight the benefits of knowing the information your topic covers.

Choose a topic you are familiar and comfortable with it makes it much easier if you are doing something you know inside out.

The video is supposed to be 20 minutes long. If you go over 20 minutes and get to 22 the will shut it off whether or not you are done and grade it then. I dont know if you would be penalized for not meeting the time constraint or not but I think it would be safe to say if you hadn't finished in 22 minutes you would be.

Whatever you do........don't cut your "students" in the video off if you are running out of time. End with a summarization of what you have accomplished; "Today we learned *this*" Don't say anything along the lines of "If there are no more questions..."

Keep your hands out of your pockets, no clicking a pen while you speak and NO FILLER WORDS!!! no uhs, ya knows, okays, stuff like that very important.

When I did my video the first one went so well and naturally I looked up and the Instructor teaching the course was holding up the sign that said 20 minutes I was floored. I paniced and cut my "students" off with the above comment and had to do the video over and never did get that natural flow going again.

Hope that is of some help to you in the event you havent done the video yet. As for the retake policy I'm not sure if you have to do both again or not. I think you would just have to redo the video and not the written.
