To HR people
I want to ask what is the value of certifications in your eyes. Do u think many different certificates will be helpful in a resume and give an edge over others

Certs are supposed to mean that you proved yourself and you know what's going on, but with all the braindumps, etc. its kinda losing its purpose. I still believe it gives you a edge but not if you don't have experience to go with them.

Potatohead is correct in that getting certs will give you an edge. Even though the value of certifications has dropped, most IT jobs seem to require that you have at least some certs or some education. If you're just getting into IT then a few certs in various software may be good, like MCP, CNA, and A+, or several CompTIA certs, etc. The more basic certs you have, the more basic knowledge it will be assumed that you have.

They give you an edge over those who don't have any certs at all, but experience is always the deciding factor. If someone has more experience than you, they get the job.
