Arrghhhh! Beginning to get really sick of blue... ...the "I'm-taking-my-DA-this-week-syndrome"?

Seriously though, could the veteran DA's/DP's tell me what's the deal with the AS400's? I've seen lotsa recent comments about it. Do I need to really go into TR, SRB, SNA, DLSw+, APPN and other IBM stuff for the DA?

I'm planning on DP after this so any comments on the coverage on blue stuff over there would be greatly appreciated.

For the CCDA, it is not necessary to know the SNA architecture with its NAU (SSCP, PU, LU ) and so on..
Know only the old SNA architecture is based on Token Ring (LAN) and SDLC (WAN). I don't remember DLSW is mentioned on DA exam. Perhaps on RIF, but I'm not sure.
The actualy SNA architecture is rather based on TOKEN RING or a few on ETHERNET(LAN) and DLSW (sometimes RSRB/SDLLC) (WAN), this is true for the DP.
For information and for the new DP exam, the SNA part is very short. I can say more in one week, after this test.

djo, thanks for the reply. Just read it b4 going for the exam and it really boosted my confidence, something I needed badly. Good luck for your CID!!

I had some questions on SRB, SNA and one on SDLC/LAPB. None on APPN, APPC, DLSw or any other 'deep' blue stuff. 1Q on ATM (didn't know the answer), few on TR, none FDDI.

Tip on AS400/SNA: Just treat it like any other box running its own protocol, and look out for what the companies in the case studies require in particular about supporting/replacing it. That's more important that knowing "blue" material in detail.

DCN was a rather dumb exam in terms of format. I think that Cisco deliberately gives you a question from 1 case study, then the next from another just to confuse you and make you really read the cs (over and over again). 1 cs on my exam didn't have any AS400, but after much alternating btw cs's, I was nearly fooled into thinking that it was another cs with plenty of SNA requirements.

I guess making design summaries on each cs did help a lot. Thanks to all those who suggested it. And for those taking the exam, be patient and consider all possible answers before clicking "Next". Take your time!! The wording was okay 'cept for 1 or 2 questions. And this exam is not as hard as people put it.

Ciscopress books(both) were good enough for me although I'll check out CCO some...

What was disturbing was that I scored 0% on "Routed Protocols" and only 60% on WAN technologies. And that's after completing the NP track...Was it me or the exam?!?
Guess I'll be too drunk to think about that tonight...
