Network adapter problems

Help anyone...
I've been setting up a Win2000 pro. computer and had problems with the network where it would run slow doing file copies from a server, and I would eventually get a msg like "network path no longer exists". As I watched the lights on the hub, the link light would go out occasionally for a few seconds (its an old at&t 10mb hub). I suspected a bad nic, so I replaced my 3com with a smc. Same thing. I replaced patch cable to a new port on the hub. Same thing. I don't have this problem with other machines on the hub, so I moved the nic to a new PCI slot. (swapped vga card with nic) Now I don't get a IP address via DHCP. I do a IPCONFIG /RENEW but it says "No adapters bound to TCP/IP are enabled for DHCP". Deinstalling/reinstalling the adapter does not help. Also, the description of the nic tags "#2" on the end. I believe it thinks their is another adapter installed in the original slot, although it doesn't show up in device manager. Any ideas?

Wink Error Message ............

Error: No adapters bound to TCP/IP are enabled for DHCP

Explanation:
You tried to perform a DHCP operation, but the adapter card does not support or is not configured to DHCP.

User Action:
Reinstall the TCP/IP protocol stack. Verify that you have selected, Obtain an IP Address from a DHCP server for the adapter installed in the workstation. Verify that the adapter is bound to the stack and then restart the workstation to let the DHCP server configure the IP parameters for the TCP/IP stack.

Thanks for advice, but reinstalling TCPIP did not work. I had to swap nic/vga again to original slots. Then everything worked. I should have deinstalled the nic 1st in w2k before swapping!
