I'm just wondering. I'm used to SSH'ing into my unix shell through windows. (I run a few eggdrop IRC bots through it.) However, I tried to SSH on my Linux box for the first time and it gave me a key, so I retyped it when it asked me; then it gave me two more before I gave my password and logged in successfuly. I've used SSH Secure Shell for windows and it didn't require me to do this. Just out of pure curiosity, does SSH require you to retype an encrypted password for security when in *nix usually? I assume Secure shell in windows hides this from you and verifies the key automatically.

I'm not sure what you're asking. The first time you SSH into a box in *nix you'll recieve a prompt asking you if you want to accept the SSH server's key. Is that what you mean? Or are you refering to a key on your end? If a key's required on the SSH client then it shouldn't make any difference what OS you're running. It would be required either way.

Hm, It had me retype that key. A key at the servers end I do believe.
