Mock up question of the day
I just encountered this problem at my home lab and decided it would make a good question of the day.
You have a Dual Homed Win 2k Server running Terminal Services in Remote Administration mode. You use XP's Remote Desktop to administer the servers. You upgrade the switches in the lab and have to remove one of the NIC's in the server. Now when you try to establish a Remote Desktop you are unable to. You check the HOST and LMHOST file to ensure they are correct and also verify the DNS, DHCP, Subnet, and Gateway are correct.
What would be the correct course of action to correct this problem?
I would add choices, but I am so happy I figured this one out I can't think of any.

What I think...
Since you removed a NIC, I would check to see what its IP was, and put that IP onto the NIC that is still in the computer.
It may be trying to access that IP instead of the one in now.
Thats all I can think of

Maybe try flushing the dns cache. If the problem exists longer than the TTL, then make sure the name resolves to an IP that can reached by the internal machines.
Also, try resetting the switch as it may have recorded the MAC of the old card for that port and may be causing problems with the new NIC(MAC).

NIC
Well all I can think of is that the remote desktop sharing must be enabled on the NIC you took out...so now it cant find the correct NIC and is disabled. If this was the problem, the turnaround could be just to assign the IP on which the discarded NIC was working on the new one.
But of course I would like to know how you solved this problem.

Hehe.
Doberman got it right.
You can choose which NIC the Remote Desktop can travel on. That way you can use the back up NIC so you do not take away any bandwidth from the users.
I had forgotten I changed this setting and it took me about 30 hours to figure it out
