Comtia versus Microsoft
I was looking at the new MCSA requirements yesterday. They accept Comptia as electives but to progress on to MCSE they are not accepted. I think Comptia should work out a Certificate which incorporates several of their qualifications. i.e A+, Network+ and Server+. If they tried to make them more industry recognised maybe they would give Microsoft a competitor in the certification stakes.
I understand Windows is widely used but surely Comptia could come up with their own exam.
It may even cut costs a bit!!!

M$ is a member of CompTIA and probably have a big say in what tests will be given, so I don't see this happening any time soon.

I`ve mentioned this before.
I think it wouldn`t hurt Comptia to create a vendor neutral premiere cert.
Like Comptia Certified IT expert
Oh wait thats CCIE,
Maybe Comptia Certified IT expert+
it would be Comptia CITE+
whatever
I thinks it bears some consideration.
Like you said combine several but in my opinion maybe use any 3 existing plus 2 new
highlevel core certifications, that are geared toward 2 to 3 or more years of expierience.
What do ya think?

comptia premier cert
Hi Chodan -
That sounds like a great idea to me for the comptia premier cert... why don't you contact them about it?

SNAIL+, ROFLMAO!!! That title doesn't exactly inspire confidence! The problem with CompTIA combining these certs into one larger program is that they are all intended for beginners. What would they call it, the Beginners+? Or B+ maybe? you get a premiere cert by specialising in a certain type of technology, but how can you say you are a specialist if you are "entry-level", and those are the people that CompTIA targets . . . those with approximately six months of work experience, as it says at their web site.

senior level comptia
That would be a good idea but as I see it, compTIA needs to push its cert tracks through greater public awareness. Many employers are focused strictly on certs that directly apply to their needs.
