Is there a major difference in between the 029 & 229 exams? I have all the material for 029 and was planning on taking it, but if they are similar, I will just shot for 229.

I'm not sure about what the differences are but I doubt there are too many. The definitive answer as to whether you should do the 029 or the 229 exam is to do the latter. Noone at this stage should be considering the 029 exam unless they have already paid for it or other exceptional reasons.

The exam will stress some of the obvious differences; there's some focus on XML (big surprise), and you might as well expect questions on other changes (better collation support, named instances etc).

As said before, if you don't have any good reasons to take 029 you should go for 229.

I have just signed upto examnotes. I too am studying for 029, and would be interested to hear from you. As far as I know there is no 229.

There better be a 229...

There better be a 229, or VUE ripped me off! :-)

229 is similar to 029 but covers SQL Server 2000 rather than SQL Server 7.

Check out http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/...equirements.asp and specifically http://www.microsoft.com/traincert/exams/70-229.asp for more info.

Definately do the 70-229 as there is a big overlap between the two... as previously mentioned the new features such as XML (which are not that difficult to pick up, and a good opportunity to learn XML if you don't already know it) and other features are always going to be tested but any good book or resource should highlight the differences somewhere - and there aren't many (major) ones to learn anyway.
Plus the lifetime of SQL Server 2000 (and the exam) is going to be longer than 7.0...
