Angry Way too accessible A: drive!!

OK here's the question, I have this A: drive that is making me nuts. Whenever I go into My Computer or Windows Explorer, the system attempts to access the A: (Floppy) drive. It only does this once and that occurs after a reboot or initial startup. I've done all that I can think of (i.e. remove/replace the drive, uninstall/install, etc) but nothing works!! Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I had something like this once,,,,,

,,,,it turned out to be a shortcut on my desk pointing to the A drive. Removed the - no longer needed - shortcut and end of problem.

It may be your anti-virus software. Look into your av configuration for an advanced setting to disable floppy scan on boot or shut-down. You may also want to change the active scan mode to limit resource use by eliminating active scanning of all files.

Have you tried clearing out the Recent files from the Documents list in the Start Menu. I had a PC that would access the A: drive sporadically for no reason and it was from a document listed in the Recent folder.

Had one that did this everytime you wanted to right click on anything. Turned out to be a virus. Update and scan.
