Question Tue 70-216 Question of the Day

And today's poser is ....

Q51. You are the administrator for a Windows 2000 network. The network contains 5 Windows 2000 Server computers and 45 Windows 2000 Professional client computers. You are implementing a CA hierarchy. While installing the subordinate CAs, you make an offline CA certificate request. You find that the CA is not certified. What should you do?

A. Reissue all certificates in the hierarchy.

B. Install a smart card reader on the CA computer.

C.Reinstall the hierarchy CA by first installing the Root CA, and then the Intermediate CAs, and finally the issuing CAs.

D. Manuall import the certificate using the Certification Authority MMC snap-in. After the certification authority's certificate has been issue by the parent CA, you can complete the installation.

Good Luck .... see you tomorrow for the answer!!

And the answer is ....

Correct Answers: D

While installing subordinate CAs, you can save the certificate request to a request file and make the request offline. If you make an offline CA certificate request, the CA will not be certified. Therefore, you must manually import the certificate using the Certificate Authority MMC snap-in. After the certification authority's certification has been issued by the parent CA, you can complete the installation.

Re-issuing all certificates in the hierarchy, installing a smart card reader on the CA computer, and reinstalling the hierarchy CA by first, installing the Root CA, and then the Intermediate CAs, and finally the issuing CAs will not certify the CA.
