Im Just curious how many people in here are veternas and are able to use their GI Bill for accelerated schools. schools which offer the courses in 6 months. and not junior colleges or institutes that offer the entire course in over a years time. Ive noticed in my area there are no accelerated schools that meet VA approval. please give me your thoughts to this matter. wehter there for CCNA, MCSE, Comptia or any other vendor certification.

Hey fellow veteran. From what I understood, the GI Bill covers the certification tests, not the classes. I found this information on their website and via a snail mail letter from them, announcing their new policies.

I have several friends that have used the GI Bill at TechSkills. You can work on the courses as fast as you want. They're not like a college or university, however, they have many benefits like one on one mentoring, etc... I think the number to call is 1-800-NEW-SKILLS to find nearest location...

I left the Air Force a year ago and I was in the same boat... expensive classes and short pockets. I managed to get the classes financed through Sallie Mae, but I was really looking for Uncle Sam to cover the costs. The truth is that more and more training centers are getting on board with the VA coverage. The school that I attend is in Atlanta and they originally thought it was a hassle to apply for VA approval, well, because the government truly prides itself on its layers of paperwork. After the school learned that there were several thousand VA members in the area with the same concerns, they quickly changed their outlook. I see dozens of vets enrolling daily. The percentage that the VA covers is based on the number of hours per week - considering part time or full time. They may not advertise so much, but you can bet that Tampa Bay, with Macdill Air Force Base on the south side of town, has school that accept the VA plan. Good luck... and Aim High!!

Disclaimer: I am not a vet nor do I know anything about gi bill etc.

Beside going through the official route, ie, inquiring about benefit thru the proper administration, I think the best way is to go straight to the biller.

Like insurance billing, the ppl that seem most willing to explain your coverage clearly to you seem to always be the biller rather than the insurer. They will tell you what they can recover and what you are responsible for.

Training center/school are just a business, they want your business, no matter how they get the money (thru ur pocket, employer, government, unemployment etc) Go to prospective school and tell them that you are interested in attention classes, but your financial situation are such and you would like to know what you/they can do with the gi bill benefit. Chances are someone in the same situation as you have approach them before and they have either figure out a way to do it or tell you that it can't be done. Let them worry about getting your business, make them work for you. If they are more interested in selling you loans (which may be easier for them then going through something government), make sure you restate that you are interested in only putting your GI bill benefit to paying. There is a lot of training center all around teh country, shop around and see who really want your business and are willing to go the extra miles for you.

Well I think Shaolinstyle has come the closest to what im looking for. I in no way need help in using the GI Bill im just merely trying to find out how many vets are able to use the GI Bill at accelerated schools. Id like to see the use of the GI Bill change so that more veterans can come out of the military, hop into a school get certified and move on with there life. I think its rediculous that vets are limited as to how they can spend the money that they invested for education purposes.things wont change if we sit idley by.

I agree. The government likes to create walls and other loopholes that we need to go through in order to receive our benefits. The nice thing for myself is I was able to go to tech school and then get out and earn my certs (CCNA,MCSE4/2000, etc...)being paid for by my companies. There should be no limitations on what we can use it for, with the exception of the VA doing a screening to ensure the training centers are legit. I think something like this would benefit our fellow service members and all veterans alike. As I am sure you folks know as well as I that some of my fellow comrades were nervous about getting out of the military due to the hassel of getting a job, etc...

I think part of the reason for this, is members arent fully informed on how it works when they sign that dotted line for the investment. I think if more people new how it worked they would push to get this changed as well.
