Is there a way to reset a router back to it's original configuration

The original config is basically none at all. Use the clear start command from the enable prompt then reload.

Prompt "erase startup-config" at the priviledge mode and then reload.

This will erase your startup configuration (empties the router configuration) and then restarts the router.

ATTENTION: This two commands will erase the router configuration as it was when you received it from the factory.

After the erase start and reload it will say something along the lines of, configuration has changed do you want to save - the answer is no, otherwise your just rewriting your running config to the startup config.
