Question Installed XP and dual boot

Has anybody try out to have dual boot Windows XP home edition with win 2000 pro?
Did he/she faced any problem on doing that?
I have XP home edition installed from the vendor in my pc and I would like to have also win 2000 in order to practice for the MCSE.

I don't know anyone who has done this, but I know there must be someone out there.
I was thinking about doing the same for my home PC.

Thumbs up

I have 2000 and XP Pro dual booted. Install 2000 first on its own partition and then XP on it's own partition. It should work fine.

Realize that XP home does not have NTFS support, which may be an issue if you are currently using it under 2000.

I am aware of that but I have already XP install from the vendor.
I just want to avoid to format the HD and install first win 2000 and then XP.
Thanks anyway.

you have another partition right? if you do try it what harm can it do just pull all your files off the other part and set it up if it don't work maybe you'll need 3rd party software

Thumbs up Dual Boot

The recommended procedure to dual boot is to always load the older OS first - in this case Windows 2000 Professional.

I say it'll work (I have no way to back this up just a gut feeling)

I am not disagreeing with you - it may well be possible - I was just stating what the recommended way is.
