Question for the Experts
I am trying to remotely log in to my Win 2000 Professional system without using a third party software package.
Here's what I am able to do: I can successfully log in to the 2000 machine but it does not show up on the remote computer's Network Neighborhood.
I am connecting via the Internet not a straight dial-in.
How can I browse the Win 2000 computer if it does not show on the remote computers network neighborhood?
Any help would be appreciated

Why you don“t want third party software?.. i know very good programs like Symantec PCAnywhere and Netops Remote.
You maybe need VPN..
tell me, how you connect to the pro computer remotely?...

onoski : No I don't have Win Server installed, from the information I've read, I didn't think I needed it.
cm2gj: I'm trying to do it without any additional software because Windows says that it should be able to do it.
And the way that I log in is by doing a VPN connection to the IP address of the Win 2000 machine.

This can most probably be accomplished in Srv2000/Adv Srv. I don't think this task can be done on W2k pro machine on it's own. Send in more info as to how you configured the VPN etc. Cheerio.

O.K. I give up! I'm going to try 2000 server, maybe I will be able to do RAS with that.
Thanks for all the help.
With win2k server or adv server, you can set up a RRAS service, with Ras service / multilink / NAT / ICS / DHCP Relay / VPN server.... all this only on server, on Pro only ICS....
best regards
