SAIR Linux closes development center, but says it will continue

Apparently, SAIR Linux has closed it's Linux development center in Mississippi, but it has told CertCities that it plans to continue the cert. Here's a link to the story.

I hope for all those people who have SAIR certs that they do keep it going. But it wouldn't surprise me if SAIR folded or merged with another company. At last count there were three vendor neutral companies offering Linux certs - SAIR, LPI, and Comptia's Linux+. Probably too many for right now, but then again, I have noticed an slight increase in job listings for Linux types.

I like the fact that LPI is a not-for-profit and backed by some big companies, like IBM and HP. I visited the LPI folks at Linux World in NYC, and it appears that they are doing well. I was also surprised to see someone from Comptia sharing the booth and handing out flyers for the Linux+ exam. So it appears that Comptia is working with LPI like they have with Micro$oft.
