About five years ago, I pulled a copy of Teach Yourself Unix Shell programming in 14 Days from the bargain bin at CompUSA. I think I paid $8 for it. It's a great book - lots of examples, tests at the end of every chapter and a great glossary at the back. I still use it. It's copyright 1994 (but shell scripting hasn't changed much in the past 10 years) and the ISBN is 067230583. You might be able to pick up a cheap copy somewhere.

The other book that I like O'Reilly's Learning the Bash Shell. ISBN 1565923472.

And as ccieToBe pointed out, there are lots of web site tutorials that will teach you.

Good Luck!
