Absolute beginner
Absolute beginner
My classes for ccna starts 01/26/2002, Sat and Sundays from 9-2pm. I have lot's of prevuous experience with computers and some networking skills. I have completed chapters 1-3 of the CCNA Exam book. I now am worried for this isn't going to be a walk in the park. Is there anyone that can just say something to give me some positive hope, because I know I can do it, it's just a matter of putting shoulder to the axle.....
Likely I am a diplomatic spouse and have to sit at home all day, lot's of time available.
The best to all you highflyers (incl myself) out there.
South African in Chicago.

Have faith
I went from 0 to certified in 19 days.
My class was 5 days full-time. Is your class more than just the two days? That would be good, but it's not a big problem if it isn't.
I already had Network+ before I did CCNA and it was a huge help. It's very encouraging to hear that you've had previous networking experience.
Just be prepared to learn about routing protocols like RIP and IGRP. And a lot more about switching than you probably already know, like Spanning Tree Protocol, and VLANs & Virtual Trunking Protocol.
After the class, I also studied with books and practice tests. But I went into the class cold with just my previous knowledge (not a bad way to do it, then you can just read up on the things that you don't fully comprehend afterward).

I started the class on Monday and passed the test that Friday at 2PM. I agree that Net+ and my networking background were huge help. I still play with the stuff now, mind you. The test means nothing if the skills don't stay, and are not added to.
Good luck! You will be successful if you work hard. And don't hesitate to post your questions and ask for help!
