Question Exam 70-219 need help with a question?

Well boy's and girls. i am presently working towards passing the case Study
Exam 70-219. my study group and I have come accross a question which brings
about a little argument.

First we believe you don't need to know the case to be able to answer the
question but for those of you who do already have the caes studies this is
either fabrikam/Facade.

The jist of the case study is that you are upgradeing a winnt 4.0
infrastucture with four domains (Account and three resource) to a single
win2K domain with AD integrated Zones (DNS). Here is the questions and
answers.

What is the most criticle decision you have to make before you implement
your Active Directory?

a. The name of the first Domain
b. The number of Domains
c. The number of users
d. The DNS

We have ruled out answers B and C for obvious reasons. we are leaning
towards answer A because if you don't have the forst domain name then you
can't install AD. How ever some are saying DNS.

Please any thought and explainations would be greatly appreciated.

Dwayne

Ive seen everything apart from no of users defined. Microsoft obviouly have "an" answer, but communicating this to the outside world isnt happening. My guess would be that as DNS and domain are the same in name...of those two it should be DNS
BUT. In the course - designing a DS infra - you decide on your AD design - single/multiple domain first. Just because they have already decided on the design, doesnt mean it isnt important - or even the most important.
Then naming strategy comes next- which is all about DNS (Official material module 1 page 8).
This is a "live" question ie you may get it in your exam. Much of the theory is not well explained by MS in their book, which is a pity - I was disappointed by the course.
I think that is the reason there are so many different variants - and not very many high pass marks. Bear in mind you can afford to lose a few marks, and dont get too panicky about a single question!
Sorry I cant help - but I could put a valid argument up for 3 out of 4 - the trouble is only one of those is MS's argument!

Keep in mind that when you name your first domain, you can't go back and rename it without destroying everything and rebuilding your structure from scratch.

That's my case for answer "A".

Absolutely - but that depends on your company DNS name - so catch 22. if your company is company.com, so is your DNS name. So as DNS is crucial - you should be deciding what your DNS domain is going to be - eg company.local, and then your AD domain name follows!
