I picked up a thread on another forum the other day that Micro$oft had changed the question pool for the 216 exam - any feedback from those who have sat it recently? It seems to coincide with those who no longer recieve their scores. It seems that there is a gradual rollout of 'no-scores' and depending where you are depends on whether you get it or not.(though eventually noone will get their score) This isn't a bad thing & will only enhance our certification, as fewer people will rely on 'braindump' type sites (as the info cannot be guaranteed to be reliable), and will rely on good old fashioned hard work & Learning!

Or am I Wrong?!

Though I voted for a "Pass is a Pass, and a Fail is a Fail" I wanted to vote for both - at least they could put it on the screen for you and not print it on the report!!

Well I really see this as Microsoft providing less service at a higher cost. Here in Australia the cost of the exam has risen from around $145 to $245.
Then they take away some of the important information. If they want to raise the price they should be value-adding not reducing.

As for the question pool I dont think its 100% new. I had a decent number of questions that I had either seen in transcender or elsewhere in my studies.

On the "Just I know" level, who wouldn't wants to know how they did in the exam ? I mean it doesn't seems 'complete', like you have a burger, and you still feel hungry feeling. Doesn't anyone felt the 'curosity' anymore ?

But on the " Other people may need to know " level, I think it gives them an vague impression of Microsoft exam system.

Though it would saves the 'blushes', if the score ain't too cool.

So I would support Wbafrank's idea. First it fills the cursosity hunger, also it saves the blushes.

Like any exam you did in college you will always get the grade.And especially when you
are paying the bucks you expect a service from MS,and providing the grade is part and
parcel of the service.

Personnaly I think the scores are irrelavent, it's the sections that you fouled up in that are of more value. The Pass/Fail is an excellent way to prevent paper ppl from doing the bare minimum to get that piece of paper although I am sure it will not diswade them overly.

MS should have retained the section(s) where you failed but still issued the Pass/Fail.

I'm planning on taking the 70-216 next Tues., so this is news to me!! I was particularly wondering what Microsoft's justification was on this. Just in case anyone is interested in their "offical" reasoning for this...

"Beginning in December 2001, new exam score reports indicate only pass or fail status. Candidates no longer receive feedback on exam sections, as this information does not meaningfully reflect complex item types. In addition, candidates no longer receive overall scores. Microsoft certification exams are designed to validate each candidate's ability to perform a specific job function or set of tasks in the real world. The exams are not designed or intended to provide feedback on areas for potential improvement, or to distinguish among individuals capable of performing the relevant job or set of tasks. To obtain diagnostic feedback, Microsoft recommends candidates use MCP Practice Test Provider tests."

Whatever. I somewhat see their point but AT LEAST knowing I passed with flying colors or by the seat of my pants would be nice!!

MS sounds like providing a big 'pie', to those MCP test providers. They will probably run by Microsft themselves, who would not capitalize on this potentially money dropping tress. The recent raise in exam fees, probably is the 'sign' that MS in on to this potential market.

Seems not to benefit people taking exams like me, worst , if not sponsered by company.
